Two men suffered non-life-threatening injuries when they were shot by a would-be robber as they worked in the backyard of a Del Paso Heights home early Monday afternoon.
Sacramento police spokeswoman Michele Gigante said the shooting occurred at 1:32 p.m. in the 3800 block of Pinell Street near Harris Avenue. She said the resident and another man were laying concrete in the backyard when a male armed with a gun walked up to them and attempted to rob them. When the two men refused the demands, they were shot, one man in the upper body and the other in the lower body.
Gigante said both were transported to an area hospital with injuries that are not believed to be life-threatening. She said one of the victims was in his early 80s and the other in his mid 30s.
Gigante said the gunman fled and is thought to have left the area in a vehicle that was parked nearby. She said the gunman and the victims did not know each other. No description of the gunman was available.
