The coroner has released the name of the motorcyclist who died Friday night in a collision near Sylvan and Old Auburn roads in Citrus Heights.
He was identified as Jack M. Short, 53, of Citrus Heights.
Citrus Heights police responded about 7:07 p.m. Friday to a report of a crash involving a motorcycle and another vehicle on Sylvan Road south of the intersection with Old Auburn Road. When officers arrived, they found Short in the roadway with significant injuries.
Officers attempted life-saving measures until Sacramento Metropolitan Fire Department medical personnel arrived and pronounced Short dead. The driver of the other vehicle remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation, police said.

The preliminary investigation revealed that the vehicle was northbound on Sylvan Road and making a left turn into a retail parking lot on the southwest corner of the intersection at Sylvan and Old Auburn roads. The motorcyclist was in the left lane of southbound Sylvan Road when he collided with the vehicle just south of the intersection, police said.
