Sacramento police say a pedestrian was killed when he was hit by a vehicle on a major downtown Sacramento road over the weekend.
Officers were called to North 16th and North B streets at about 1 a.m. Saturday, where a vehicle had hit the pedestrian, a man later identified by the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office as 64-year-old Gilbert Montoya.
Sacramento Fire Department medical personnel arrived and pronounced Montoya dead at the scene, police said. The Police Department traffic collision investigation team was summoned to look into the crash, but details of the circumstances surrounding the fatal incident were not immediately available.
The driver of the vehicle that hit Montoya remained on the scene to speak with officers. No hometown was listed on the coroner’s website for the dead man.
