Placerville man accused of child molestation
A 54-year-old Placerville man is in El Dorado County Jail, accused of molesting a juvenile who was visiting his home.
Placerville police announced that Jeffrey Hitt was arrested Monday on suspicion of lewd and lascivious acts with a minor. The investigation of Hitt began Friday after police received a call from a member of Hitt’s family who was concerned for the victim, according to a Police Department news release.
The victim was later interviewed by a forensic interviewer and provided a detailed statement, which led to Hittt’s arrest. Police said Hitt, during an interview, made several statements that were consistent with the victim’s account.
Hitt is being held in jail in lieu of $50,000 bail.
