Cash, drugs and arrests after Nevada County search
Drugs and nearly $17,000 in cash were found on property in Nevada County where deputies arrested 7 people on Wednesday.
Members of the sheriff’s Narcotic’s Task Force drawn to a home on Kentucky Flat Road in a search for a person wanted for marijuana cultivation, found 20 people at the property Wednesday morning. Deputies also found marijuana stalks in a burn pile and the strong odor of marijuana coming from a building, according to a sheriff’s press release.
Detectives obtained a search warrant and found several hundred pounds of marijuana. It is believed that the marijuana was grown elsewhere and brought to the property.
Also found was $16,913, heroin and opium poppies. On the property, according to deputies, were 17 marijuana processing stations.
Matthew Wilkes, 23, rented the property. Wilkes and 6 other people from South Lake Tahoe, San Francisco, Pleasant Hill, Contra Costa County, and Washington were arrested on marijuana-related drug charges, according to the sheriff’s office.
