A 16-year-old boy was arrested Tuesday at an El Dorado County High School, accused of possessing child pornography and sexual battery.
School resource officers at Ponderosa High School in Shingle Springs were notified of a male student who was reportedly showing photos of a naked female to other students. An investigation was launched and photos were found on the student’s cell phone, according to an El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office news release. The photos were of an underage nude female who had posed for the pictures, sheriff’s officials said.
Further investigation revealed that the same boy had allegedly inappropriately touched another female student the previous day while on campus.
The boy was arrested and booked into El Dorado County Juvenile Hall.

This was the second incident in two weeks of alleged sexual offenses involving Ponderosa High students. On Oct. 14, a school resource officer learned of a video depicting two juvenile high school students engaged in sex acts. During a subsequent investigation, it was learned that on Oct. 10, a male and female, both minors, were filmed by a third male, also a minor. All three are students at Ponderosa High.
After further investigation, the two male students were arrested and booked into El Dorado County Juvenile Hall on suspicion of possession and distribution of child pornography, sexual exploitation of a child and conspiracy to commit a felony.
