Sacramento police have arrested a suspect in the death of a man whose body was found Monday night near the Sacramento River bike trail and Jibboom Street.

Kenneth Hill, 34, was arrested about 7:50 a.m. Friday. He is accused of stabbing 34-year-old Luis Cortez, according to police.

Police dispatchers received information about 8:30 p.m. Monday that a man had been found unconscious near the 400 block of Jibboom Street, just upriver from the I Street Bridge.

Sacramento Fire Department firefighters were the first on the scene, followed by police officers. Fire department medical personnel pronounced the man, later identified as Cortez, dead. Police said Cortez has sustained trauma to his upper body.

A preliminary investigation indicated that Cortez had been involved in a fight that resulted in the fatal injuries, according to police.
