Folsom burglary suspect crashes into minivan with mom, child
A fleeing motorist suspected in a burglary crashed Monday morning, injuring a woman, police said.
The collision occurred after a burglary in the 300 block of East Bidwell Street. Folsom police spokesman Sgt. Andrew Bates said police received a call shortly after 8 a.m. Monday from a business owner reporting a break-in. Later, authorities learned that a burglar had opened a hole in a wall separating a hair salon from a skateboard shop.
When officers arrived on the scene, they discovered that the burglary suspect had just left in a car. Officers saw the car and tried to stop it, but the driver sped away, with police in pursuit.
After a three-mile chase, the car collided with a minivan at the Blue Ravine and Big Valley roads intersection, police said. Inside the minivan was a mother with her small child. The child was not hurt, but the mother suffered a minor injury when an airbag opened.
The suspected burglar, who is 25 years old, also had minor injuries, police said.
The identity of the suspect, who had a warrant for his arrest for an unrelated burglary, was not immediately available.
