Cow killed by traffic on Highway 50 in Folsom

A cow that wandered onto eastbound Highway 50 on Tuesday in the Folsom area was struck and killed.

The cow was first hit by a vehicle around 6 a.m. and then struck again on the highway between Prairie City Road and East Bidwell Street.

Little traffic backed up because of the early hour, but a California Highway Patrol officer was there at 7:30 a.m., awaiting the Caltrans loader that took the carcass away.
