A woman was jailed after she allegedly assaulted a man with a machete in the South Lake Tahoe area over the weekend.
El Dorado County sheriff’s deputies were called about 6:45 a.m. Saturday to a residence in the 900 block of Brockway Avenue regarding an assault that had just occurred. They found a man bleeding from multiple cuts on both arms.
The man told deputies that he awoke to someone pounding on his front door. He opened the door and found a woman he knew armed with a machete. She reportedly demanded money and charged the man. The man was injured as the two fought over the machete, according to a Sheriff’s Office news release. The man was able to get away and close the door.
The woman was identified as 51-year-old Deborah Darr of South Lake Tahoe. Deputies tracked her to an address on Tata Lane, where she was found and detained.

Sheriff’s officials said Darr also had injuries as a result of the fight. Deputies took her into custody and the machete was recovered as evidence.
Darr was booked into El Dorado County Jail in South Lake Tahoe on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon. Sheriff’s officials said she has been released on $25,000 bond.
