Stockton man arrested in West Sacramento shooting that injured teen

A Stockton man has been arrested in connection with a shooting that critically injured a 13-year-old girl Saturday in West Sacramento.

West Sacramento police detectives arrested 39-year-old Sonny Martinez. He was booked into the Yolo County Jail on Tuesday on suspicion of attempted murder, shooting at an inhabited dwelling, battery with serious bodily injury and a gang enhancement, according to a Police Department news release.

Officers responded about 8:50 p.m. Saturday to the 900 block of Solano Street regarding a report that someone had suffered a gunshot wound to the head. Police said the girl was at home with her grandmother when several bullets were fired into the residence. The girl was struck by one of the shots.

She was taken to UC Davis Medical Center in critical condition.
