El Dorado County Animal Services is alerting residents that its incoming business mailbox was broken into over the weekend.
The break-in, in the 6400 block of Capitol Avenue in Diamond Springs, was discovered Monday. Officials advise anyone who mailed a check to the Diamond Springs office in the past week to call Animal Services, at 530-621-5795, to confirm that it was received.
The Postal Service is repairing the mailbox. In the meantime, Animal Services’ mail will be collected at the post office and picked up daily, according to a county news release.
Anyone with information regarding the break-in is asked to call the El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office.
