Woman flees during attempted kidnapping in South Lake Tahoe
A woman visiting South Lake Tahoe was accosted on the street in an attempted kidnapping by a man who said he had a gun.
The 36-year-old woman was walking from Harvey’s casino to a restaurant about 9:30 a.m. Oct. 10 when a bicyclist turned around to follow her, according to South Lake Tahoe police. Eventually, the young man with a sweatshirt hood pulled over his head abandoned his bicycle to approach her.
He told the woman he had a gun and ordered her to come with him, according to police. He motioned with his hand in the pocket of his sweatshirt, rather than displaying a weapon.
The woman ran and called police from a nearby motel.
An composite image of the suspect was created. He is described as white or Hispanic, about 5 feet 6 inches tall with a medium build. He wore black, wire-framed glasses, a gray hooded sweatshirt and dark pants.
