Police are crediting a Crime Stoppers tip for leading to the arrest of two men who say they are responsible for removing more than 100 parking meters from downtown Stockton streets over the past two weeks, according to The Record newspaper.
The meters were sawed off with a pipe cutter, police said.
Reports yesterday put the number of meters at 86, but the Stockton newspaper said more than 100 meters were taken at a cost of more than $100,000, according to Stan Sogsti, supervisor parking attendant.
