Judge sentences killer to 50-to-life in North Sacramento murder
Sacramento Superior Court Judge Michael P. Kenny sentenced Carlos Alfredo Escalante to 50 years to life in prison Friday for his first-degree murder conviction in the Oct. 23, 2011, north side shooting death of Jose Navarro.
According to evidence at trial, Navarro, 23, injured Escalante’s younger sister while breaking up a fight at an apartment complex on Traction Avenue. She told Escalante, 24, what happened, and he returned and shot Navarro, authorities said.
