A fatal vehicle crash on Laguna Boulevard at Laguna Park Drive Saturday afternoon left one adult dead and five people injured, including three children, according to the Cosumnes Community Services District Fire Department.
A Ford Edge SUV was traveling eastbound on Laguna Boulevard before beginning a northbound turn onto Laguna Park Drive. The maneuver placed it in the path of a Dodge 1500 pickup, which was westbound on the boulevard and had a green light, said Christopher Trim, Elk Grove police department spokesperson.
The two vehicles collided, and a Ford Focus that was traveling behind the pickup truck hit one of the vehicles, sustaining damage to its rear right bumper. The pickup truck ended up near a light pole, and the SUV landed on the median.
The female driver of the SUV died. Two children, ages eight and eleven, were in the vehicle with her and have been transported to local hospitals. The three occupants of the pickup, including two adults and one child, were also taken to hospitals.

Injuries to the survivors are moderate, said Chief Tracey Hansen at Cosumnes Community Services District Fire Department, which was at the scene with the Elk Grove Police Department. The departments responded to a call that came in around 2:30 p.m. Saturday.
Laguna Boulevard is currently closed in both directions, on the west side at Franklin Blvd and on the east side at Bruceville Road.
Editor’s Note: Previous versions of this story incorrectly stated the age of one of children in the accident as four. The child is 11 years old. We regret the error.
