The name of the man found dead last week of homicide in a Meadowview home filled with natural gas has been released.
He was identified as Robert Santos, 57, of Sacramento by the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office.
Police said that two friends of Santos became worried when they did not hear from him, prompting them to check on him at a home in the 1400 block of 68th Avenue on Friday. They found him inside the home and called authorities.
Sacramento Fire Department firefighters arrived and smelled natural gas coming from inside the home. A fire department hazardous material team eventually cleared the house for safe entry.

Santos was pronounced dead by fire department personnel at 5:40 p.m. Friday.
Once inside, officers found signs of foul play and homicide detectives were called into the case. Police on Monday declined to release any more information on the man’s death, including whether Santos was shot or beaten.
Police said last week that the death of Santos is an isolated incident and that no specific motive has been determined.
