A Sacramento homicide suspect was arrested in Elk Grove on Thursday evening after leading Sacramento sheriff’s deputies on a pursuit from North Sacramento.

The pursuit began shortly after 9:20 p.m. Thursday after detectives attempted to stop a vehicle. The driver fled and officers followed the vehicle to Sage Ranch Court in Elk Grove, where four occupants fled on foot.

Utilizing sheriff’s deputies, Sacramento police officers, Elk Grove police officers, air and canine units, all four suspects were taken into custody without incident, according to a Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department news release.

Among the four detained was Israel Santos Dinnocenzo, 21, of Sacramento, wanted in the May 3 murder of James Watkins, 37. Dinnocenzo was arrested and booked into the Sacramento County Main Jail. He is not eligible for bail. He is scheduled to be arraigned Monday. Dinnocenzo is the second suspect arrested in connection with Watkins’ death.

Isaac Leo Rivera, 22, of Carmichael, was arrested several days after the May 3 shooting outside of a lounge in the 3400 block of El Camino Avenue. Before authorities arrived, an altercation had spilled into the parking lot and shots had been fired. Watkins was transported to a local hospital but died from his injuries.
