A former San Juan School District recreational aide was arrested Tuesday evening and is facing felony charges for possession of child pornography, Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department officials said.
Marcus Rubio, 21, worked at Coyle Avenue Elementary and previously volunteered there, school district officials said. The district said in a statement it has “no information indicating that the alleged crime involves any district students.” Rubio, also known as Mark Rubio, also worked at an after-school program associated with Cameron Ranch Elementary.
Rubio did not have a criminal background when he was fingerprinted in August, San Juan district officials said.
The arrest came after an Internet provider alerted the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, which then reported the behavior to the Sheriff’s Department. Anyone who might have information regarding the case is asked to contact the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department at (916) 874-5191 or Crime Alert at (916) 443-HELP.
