A woman was arrested Wednesday afternoon following a shooting at a Grass Valley residence that police say apparently resulted from a tenancy dispute.
Officers responded just after noon to a disturbance at a residence in the 300 block of North Church Street. They contacted a 61-year-old man inside the home who had suffered a gunshot wound to the leg. He was taken to Sutter Roseville Medical Center for treatment, according to a Police Department news release.
The suspect, identified as 66-year-old Valerie Hayden, was found about 20 minutes later at her residence in the 200 block of Richardson Street. Police said the firearm allegedly used in the assault was recovered her home.
Police said detectives believe Hayden went to the North Church Street residence to confront the victim about a tenancy issue. When the victim would not leave the residence, Hayden allegedly fired one round from a revolver, striking the man in the leg.
