Placer County sheriff’s deputies responding to a Thursday night standoff between a reportedly armed 33-year-old man and family members at a Loomis-area residence made no arrests at the scene.
Sgt. Nelson Resendes said Thursday night that family members called 911 about 6 p.m., and deputies responded to the home on Weston Road, off Swetzer Road, north of Loomis. Initial reports said family members evacuated the home after a shot was fired by an angry 33-year-old family member.
However, sheriff’s deputies meeting with the parties ultimately found that, while there was an argument among family members, “it was determined that no crime had occurred,” according to Dena Erwin, spokeswoman for the Placer County Sheriff’s Office. On Friday, she said evacuated family members ultimately returned to their residence, situated among multiple buildings on a 6-acre property.
The initial report of violence prompted SWAT officers and hostage negotiators to arrive on the scene, Resendes said.
