A 13-year-old boy was arrested in connection with the killing of a man in his early 20s at a North Highlands apartment complex Tuesday night.
The teen, just a few days shy of his 14th birthday, was booked into the Sacramento County Youth Detention Facility on suspicion of voluntary manslaughter, robbery and three counts of attempted robbery, according to the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department. Officials declined to release the boy’s name because he is a minor.
It was not clear what circumstances led to the man’s death, but before he was found on the ground by deputies responding to the 6800 block of Walerga Road a little after 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, shouting and gunshots echoed throughout the community.
The man, who has not yet been identified, was declared dead at the scene by medical personnel.
