A man in a wheelchair died from injuries suffered earlier this week after being struck by a car in south Sacramento.
The man, who has not been identified, was crossing 24th Street near Yreka Avenue about 5:30 p.m. Sunday in a motorized wheelchair when he was hit by a car traveling northbound on 24th Street. Medical personnel arrived and rushed the man in his 60s to the hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
Sacramento police traffic investigators arrived at the scene and spoke with the driver, 26-year-old Adrien Abeyta. Abeyta was cooperative with officers.
Alcohol, drugs and speed were determined not to be factors in the crash, police said. Police said Wednesday that the crash remains under investigation.
