Traffic reopened on Auburn Boulevard Sunday afternoon after water from a broken main damaged the road’s asphalt.
The water line on the eastbound side of Auburn Boulevard near Kitty Lane broke about 3:30 a.m., said Officer Jenna Berry, a spokeswoman for the California Highway Patrol. It flooded the road until water was turned off at about 5 a.m.
By then, the road suffered damage. “There was so much water, it affected the asphalt,” Berry said.
At 3 p.m., two-way traffic control was in place on both eastbound and westbound lanes, Berry said.
