A female inmate died after being found unconscious Sunday morning at the Sacramento County Main Jail, officials said.
Sacramento sheriff’s spokesman Deputy Tony Turnbull said in a news release that the 48-year-old inmate was found unresponsive around 8 a.m. Deputies notified emergency medical personnel and attempted to revive her, the release said.
The inmate was later pronounced dead at an area hospital. Jail officials said they saw no signs of trauma on the body and don’t suspect foul play.
The inmate had been held since May on charges of attempted murder, aggravated mayhem and elder abuse, Turnbull said. Her name was not released pending notification of family by the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office.
