Sacramento police make arrest in 2008 homicide after suspect extradited from Mexico
Sacramento police arrested a man this week for a 2008 homicide in North Sacramento.
Pablo Gonzalez, 51, was arrested late Monday on a felony charge of murder in the shooting of 20-year-old John Silver.
Gonzalez was arrested by Mexican authorities in 2013 on the same charge, but due to proceedings there, he was not extradited to the United States until Monday, said Officer Justin Brown, a Sacramento police spokesman.
Gonzalez allegedly shot Silver in the 500 block of Calvados Avenue about 7:44 p.m. on Sept. 6, 2008, according to police. Investigators believe the victim, who was walking on the street, got into a confrontation with Gonzalez.
The suspect is being held at the Sacramento County Main Jail and is ineligible for bail. His first court date is set for Wednesday.
