Davis police seek driver in hit-and-run crash that injured motorcyclist

Davis police seek the public’s help in identifying a driver in a hit-and-run collision that seriously injured a motorcyclist Wednesday night.

Police responded abut 11:30 p.m. to a report of a collision with injuries in the area of Chiles Road just east of La Vida Road. The victim had been riding on Chiles road west of La Vida when a vehicle crossed over the center line and struck him, according to a Police Department news release.

The driver of the vehicle stopped and spoke to the motorcyclist, then left the scene without exchanging information or summoning medical aid for the motorcyclist, who suffered serious injuries in the collision, police said.

The driver was described as a middle-aged white man, with gray facial hair. His was driving what was described as a blue, newer Jeep Wrangler-type vehicle. Police said the vehicle is believed to have significant front-end damage, and the air bags also may have deployed.
