Pedestrian struck and killed in Foothill Farms

A pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle late Tuesday in Foothill Farms, the California Highway Patrol said.

A 2000 Nissan Sentra traveling east on Elkhorn Boulevard about 10:30 p.m. struck the man, who was using a scooter, in the crosswalk at Andrea Boulevard.

The impact knocked the pedestrian in front of another car, a 2008 Toyota Prius, the CHP said. The victim, whose name was not released, died at the scene.

The Nissan was driven by Aleaha McCauley, 22, of North Highlands and the Toyota was driven by Denzell Latson, 25, of Sacramento. The CHP said both drivers stopped immediately.

Witnesses told officers that McCauley was facing a solid green light, and that the victim had stepped into the roadway against a red pedestrian traffic signal, according to the news release.
