Pedestrian killed on Marconi Avenue identified as Sacramento woman

The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office has identified a pedestrian who died Sunday night after she was struck by a vehicle on Marconi Avenue as Miranda Lee, 37.

The fatal incident occurred shortly after 9:30 p.m. as the Sacramento pedestrian headed south across Marconi Avenue, east of Wright Street and outside a marked crosswalk, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Lee crossed the westbound traffic lanes, stopped in the two-way left-turn lane to let two eastbound vehicles pass, and continued across the eastbound lanes before she was hit by a 1993 Nissan Sentra. The Sentra, driven by Donovan McCentee, 20, of Sacramento, was headed east in the No. 2 lane, a CHP news release said. The driver immediately stopped at the scene, officials said.

McCentee was evaluated and was not under the influence of alcohol or drugs, the CHP reported. It was not known if the pedestrian was under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
