A Granite Bay man released from jail last week was arrested Wednesday morning in Rocklin after allegedly robbing a liquor store.
Rocklin police responded about 11 a.m. to the Stop N Go liquor store at 4439 Rocklin Road regarding an armed robbery. A man reportedly entered the store, showed the clerk a handgun in his waistband and demanded that the clerk give him money from the register, according to a Police Department news release.
The clerk placed the cash drawer on the counter and the man removed the money, then left the store, heading into a commercial area.
A witness to the robbery chased the man as he left the store and entered the parking lot. Police said the witness saw the man get into a vehicle parked nearby and change clothes. The man then got out of the vehicle and walked away.

A few minutes later, the witness directed police to the man, who was walking nearby. Officers contacted the man, identified as Carter Massey, 25, of Granite Bay, and placed him under arrest.
Massey was previously arrested by Rocklin police Nov. 23 and booked into Placer County jail in connection with an unrelated crime, vehicle burglary, according to police. He was released from jail Nov. 26.
“We never recommend the public get involved in dangerous situations,” Rocklin Police Chief Ron Lawrence said in a written statement. “However, I commend the observant and caring witness in this case who tracked and identified the robbery suspect.”
