Lanes on northbound Highway 99 have reopened in the aftermath of a big rig crash that snarled traffic Thursday afternoon in the Elk Grove area.
A jackknifed big rig blocked northbound lanes just south of Dillard Road. The crash also resulted in a fuel spill requiring cleanup, according to the California Department of Transportation.
Vehicles used the right shoulder to pass, but traffic backed up to Twin Cities Road in Galt, Caltrans reported.
Lanes were cleared and reopened to traffic shortly before 4 p.m.
