Sacramento fire officials say a damaged natural gas line that prompted evacuations in Old Sacramento Friday afternoon has been contained and the area is safe to visit.
Sacramento Fire Department personnel responded to the site shortly after 2 p.m. Fire Department spokesman Chris Harvey said a 1 3/4 -inch line was damaged, resulting in the leak. Several buildings in the area of Second and L streets in Old Sacramento were evacuated.
