Yolo County coroner’s officials released the name of the 53-year-old man who was stabbed to death in a Woodland bar over the weekend.

He was identified as Kelly Mason Choate of Woodland, according to Gina Moya, chief deputy coroner in the Sheriff’s Office.

Woodland police said they were called to Kenny’s Bar at 721 East St. around 8:45 p.m. Saturday on a report of a stabbing.

Officers arrived to find Choate bleeding. He was taken by ambulance to UC Davis Medical Center in Sacramento, where he was pronounced dead.

Police said their preliminary investigation showed that Choate fought with Jeffrey Lemus, 55, of Woodland. During the bar fight, Lemus allegedly stabbed Choate with a knife.

Lemus was arrested at the scene and booked at the Yolo County jail on suspicion of homicide.
