Update: Pedestrian spotted too late in fog on Sacramento County street
A pedestrian died when struck by a vehicle in dense fog early Tuesday in southern Sacramento County.
The crash was reported to the California Highway Patrol about 5:20 a.m. A driver traveling northbound on Power Inn Road had the green light when he began proceeding through the intersection at Florin Road.
When the driver approached the crosswalk on the north side of the intersection, he saw somebody running into the path of his car. The driver took evasive action but still hit the pedestrian with the right front of his car.
The pedestrian, a 42-year-old man, died at the scene, according to the CHP.
