Coroner identifies pedestrian killed when hit by car on Power Inn

The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office has identified the man who died on a foggy street after being struck by a car as 42-year-old Vay Li.

Ly was struck by a car in dense fog about 5:20 a.m. Tuesday in southern Sacramento County, according to the California Highway Patrol.

A driver traveling northbound on Power Inn Road had the green light when he began proceeding through the intersection at Florin Road. When the driver approached the crosswalk on the north side of the intersection, he saw Li running into the path of his car.

The driver took evasive action but was unable to avoid hitting Li with the right front of his car. Li died at the scene.

No city of residence was listed for Li on the coroner’s website.
