Update: Southbound Highway 99 reopens south of Elk Grove

Southbound Highway 99 south of of Elk Grove was closed for more than nine hours after a big rig crash Tuesday morning.

The crash took place just before 11 a.m. and closed both lanes of the highway. The lanes were reported open at 8:20 p.m., according the California Highway Patrol.

Motorists were advised to use a detour at Grant Line Road during the closure.
