A fund has been set up to help the family of a man killed when his car left Highway 50 and struck a tree last week in El Dorado County.
The California Highway Patrol reported that Logan Terpening, 28, of Pollock Pines was traveling westbound on Highway 50 approaching Eight Mile Road in Camino about 5:15 a.m. Friday when his car went off the right shoulder of the road.
The car then struck a tree, and Terpening suffered fatal injuries. Terpening, a diesel truck mechanic, was on his way to work in West Sacramento.
The CHP said it was snowing and the roadway was wet at the time of the crash.

The GoFundMe account is set up to help cover funeral costs and pay for the costs of raising Terpening’s children.
The recently married Terpening is survived by his wife, Nickie, and their son, Kiegan, who turns 3 in January. Nickie Terpening is pregnant with the couple’s second child.
Funeral arrangements are pending, Nickie Terpening said Monday.
