Rumsey woman in fatal Yolo County collision is identified

An 88-year-old Woodland woman died Thursday morning in a collision on Highway 16 in Yolo County.

The Yolo County Sheriff-coroner office identified her Friday as Judy Peak, 88, of Rumsey.

The collision occurred about 7:15 a.m. south of the community of Guinda. Loren David, 28, of Guinda was driving a 2015 Chevrolet Colorado westbound on Highway 16, preparing to make a left turn onto Shadow Valley Road. A 2003 Honda CRV driven by Peak was eastbound on Highway 16 approaching the intersection and David made a left turn directly into the path of the Honda, according to a California Highway Patrol news release. The Honda collided with the right side of the pickup truck.

Peak suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene, the CHP said. David sustained minor injuries and declined transportation to a hospital for treatment, according to the CHP.

Neither drugs nor alcohol are believed to have contributed to the collision, which remains under investigation, CHP officials said.
