Man killed when car hits pole at Watt and I-80
A man died after his car slammed into a pole early Wednesday at a Watt Avenue onramp to Interstate 80.
The California Highway Patrol reported that at about 1:45 a.m. Wednesday the car hit a raised concrete road divider and then a metal freeway sign pole at the southbound Watt Avenue onramp to westbound I-80.
The driver, the sole occupant of the 2001 Pontiac Grand Am, died at the scene, CHP Officer Rich Wetzel said. Speed was suspected as a factor in the crash.
