A Fairfield woman has been arrested for allegedly drowning her grandson in a bathtub.

Dawn Diana Raines-Hewes, 51, was booked into Solano County jail on suspicion of homicide on Tuesday.

She is suspected by Fairfield police of placing her 4-year-old grandson in the tub and intentionally drowning him. Two granddaughters, ages 1 and 6, were also in the care of Raines-Hewes but were not harmed.

A motive for the alleged killing of the child has not been released.

When Fairfield police and fire personnel arrived at the home in the 1400 block of Jefferson Street shortly before 11 a.m. Tuesday, they found the boy unconscious and not breathing.

Attempts to resuscitate the child were unsuccessful.
