A family took the right steps Wednesday night when a blaze broke out in an upstairs bedroom of their home in southern Sacramento County.
When Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District crews reported to the blaze about 8 p.m. Wednesday, flames were consuming the bedroom of the home in the 7500 block of McTavish Circle. Firefighters were able to contain the fire to the room and conducted a search for any victims.
Fire Capt. Michelle Eidam said the family of three took the right steps to minimize damage to the home and danger to themselves. They quickly evacuated the home and called 911. No one was injured, fire officials said.
Also, the bedroom door was closed, drastically slowing the fire’s spread until firefighters could arrive and extinguish the blaze.
