Sacramento County homicide victim identified by coroner

The man whose body was found in a Sacramento-area apartment last week was identified Monday as Brice D. Stewart, 32, of Sacramento, according to the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office.

Officials received an anonymous 911 call Thursday at 10 a.m. regarding a male victim in an apartment in the 4900 block of Little Oak Lane, just north of American River College.

Sheriff’s deputies found Stewart lying on the floor. Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District officials pronounced him dead at the scene. No one else was in the apartment when deputies arrived.

Sheriff’s officials said there were no obvious signs of trauma, but an investigation “showed there was a physical assault earlier in the day with the suspect” that caused his death, according to a news release.

James Lee Hill, 34, of Sacramento, was arrested Thursday evening on suspicion of homicide during a vehicle stop in Vallejo and taken to jail, according to the release.

Hill, who is ineligible for bail, is to be arraigned Tuesday, the release said.
