Coroner identifies Citrus Heights teen shot dead in late December

The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office has released the name of a Citrus Heights teenager killed in late December.

Coroner’s deputies were able to find and notify all family members this week. He was identified on the agency’s website as 19-year-old Andrew Vanhunnik.

Several neighbors reported hearing shots about 2 a.m. Dec. 28 at the Creekside Colony apartment complex in the 7900 block of Kingswood Drive in Citrus Heights. When officers arrived, they found Vanhunnik dead inside a car. Two other victims – one with injuries that were not life-threatening – were outside the vehicle.

Investigators said all three people were inside the car when shots were fired. No arrests have been announced by Citrus Heights police.
