A pedestrian who died after being struck twice by cars while crossing Mack Road in south Sacramento early Saturday has been identified.
The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office identified the victim as Robert Young, 33. The victim was crossing Mack Road near Archean Way just before 1 a.m. when he was struck by the first vehicle, police said. Before witnesses could come to his aid, the victim was hit by a second vehicle.
The first vehicle fled the scene, but the second vehicle stayed until police arrived. Young was pronounced dead at the scene.
The alleged hit-and-run vehicle was traveling westbound on Mack Road when it struck the man, according to police. Investigators are reviewing surveillance cameras in the area, but so far have not released a description of the vehicle.
