The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office has released the name of the man who was stabbed to death over the weekend.
Sacramento County sheriff’s deputies received a 911 call just before 11:30 p.m. Saturday regarding a man who was yelling that he had been stabbed in the 5200 block of Verner Avenue, which is along Interstate 80 between Madison Avenue and Greenback Lane.
When deputies arrived, they found Christopher Raymond Dwillis, 41, of Sacramento, on the street suffering from stab wounds. Sacramento County Sheriff’s deputies began CPR, but Dwillis was pronounced dead at the scene.
Homicide detectives believe two men were allegedly committing vandalism in the area, when Dwillis confronted them. Dwillis was then stabbed during the confrontation, officials said.
