The United Parcel Service employee who died of injuries suffered in a company yard last week when he was struck by a UPS big rig has been identified by the coroner.
The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office website lists him as Kie Matsuda, 48, of Folsom.
Exactly how Matsuda’s death occurred will be investigated by West Sacramento police and Cal-OSHA. Sgt. Roger Kinney said that the man was walking when he was struck and pinned down about 9 p.m. Thursday at the UPS Customer Center, Harbor Boulevard and Shore Street in West Sacramento.
Fire Department medical personnel responded and Matsuda was taken to a Sacramento hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 1:38 a.m. Friday.
