In order to put a spark into her life as she turned 50, a Sacramento Fire Department firefighter underwent a television makeover on the Steve Harvey talk show.

The transformation of fire Capt. Cathleen Russell airs 3 p.m. Wednesday on KCRA, Channel 3.

Russell, who works out of a station in the Natomas area, has been a firefighter for nearly 30 years, according to a press release from the “Steve Harvey” show. She wrote to the producers of the show for help in kicking off the new year with a new look.

Russell, who dresses in uniform and usually goes without makeup on the job, admits to having a bit of a “pity party going on,” since turning 50 years old in November and being single, according to the show.

Her new look was produced with the help of Jaclyn Smith, the ex-Charlie’s Angels actress who has a clothing and skin care line.

Call The Bee’s Bill Lindelof, (916) 321-1079.
