The Sacramento County Coroner’s office has identified a man killed when his vehicle ran into a light pole in Arden Arcade after another car turned in front of him.
The coroner’s website said his name was Willis Moffett, 58, of Citrus Heights.
The California Highway Patrol said that Moffett was driving southbound on Fulton Avenue about 2:45 a.m. Saturday. Alongside, also driving at a high rate of speed, was another car with three men inside.
A witness told the CHP that the drivers of the two cars appeared to be racing.

For an unknown reason the driver of the other car turned in front of Moffett. Both vehicles then went off the road near Michelle Drive and the driver’s side of Moffett’s car struck a light pole, killing him.
The three people in the other car fled. Both vehicles were impounded as evidence.
