Man arrested in beating death of 88-year-old mother at Arden-Arcade home
A 55-year-old man was arrested in the Saturday beating death of his 88-year-old mother inside an Arden-Arcade residence, authorities said.
The Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department said deputies responding to a 911 call went to the home in the 3500 block of Mulholland Way at 7 p.m. Saturday. They found the mother inside with major head trauma, said sheriff’s spokesman Sgt. Tony Turnbull. She was rushed to an area hospital, where she was pronounced dead. Her name was being withheld, pending release by the Coroner’s Office.
Turnbull said the woman’s son, Karl Raymond Hutton, was at the house when she was found. Turnbull said detectives reported that Hutton had argued with his mother and then assaulted her. He was booked without bail on suspicion of murder.
