Northbound Highway 99 was fully reopened to traffic south of Elk Grove just in time for the evening commute.
The California Department of Transportation announced shortly after 3:30 p.m. Tuesday that all lanes were open near Dillard Road after an overturned big rig resulted in partial blockage of the northbound highway for about seven hours.
The California Highway Patrol said at 8:30 a.m. that the northbound lanes would be closed for several hours to remove a Federal Express rig that crashed just south of Dillard Road. However, by 9 a.m. one lane was opened for traffic.
